My background is emergency medicine. I spent many years in the emergency department dealing with a lot of problems downstream. But this gives me an opportunity to do more good upstream, to prevent problems from becoming emergencies. My motivation is to provide the best care so that I can help as many people as I can. Throughout my life, I've had a lot of good care, and that's the kind of care I want to provide. The most gratifying part of practicing medicine is seeing the results in the patients from your intervention, seeing the patients respond for the better. I chose Mercy because Mercy always had a good reputation. I was a paramedic for many years, and I always knew that whenever I was taking a patient to Mercy, they were going to get great health care. And I just want to carry on part of that tradition.
